As you know, Oura membership comes with only Oura ring Gen3. My ring provided me with one full month of free subscription to the Oura app. You must already be aware that the Oura app is a hub of innovative features that lets you access the full potential of your Oura ring.
To give you some background, the ring was actually gifted to me by a close friend on my birthday. I was very excited about this fancy ring and wanted to know all about its features. That is how I landed on the Oura app. I really enjoyed using the complimentary services for a month because who doesn’t?
However, my happiness was cut short after a month, as I was notified that my subscription needed to be upgraded to either monthly or annual. Which definitely involved paying an additional amount. Although I was hooked on the perks that came along with the membership plan, I was not sure if I wanted to invest around $6 every month, so I decided to get rid of it.
Where Can You Find Oura Membership Hub?
Now that you are already enjoying the perks of membership, it implies you already have an account set up on the Oura app. That is exactly where you can find your membership details.
Alternatively, you can also access it via direct web login to Membership Hub.
Steps to Cancel Your Oura Subscription
I followed these steps to cancel my subscription/membership plan. The steps are the same for iOS and Android phones.
- Head to the Oura app.
- Click on the three-line menu in the upper left-hand corner of the Home tab.
- Tap on “Settings.”
- Go to the “Account” section.
- Click on “Manage Membership.“
- The Membership Hub page will open. Enter your login details and press “Login”.
- Scroll down and Click on “Cancel Membership.”
What Do You Get in the Oura App Without Any Membership?
Honestly, without a membership plan, the Oura app looks pretty useless to me. Getting rid of the membership on the Oura app blocked my access to the Oura API, which took away my access to all the in-app features. Although the ring tracks everything, the app won’t show it to you. Does that even make sense?
In return for some $300, it is providing some very basic functionalities, like –
- The ring battery
- Oura scores (Sleep Score, Readiness Score, and Activity Score)
- Profile information
- App Settings
- Explore content
This is very disappointing for me, as the ring legitimately holds no value without the subscription. I would recommend the ring to you only if you are in a state to pay the additional subscription cost.
Note:
I still have access to Oura on the Web, but it also looks limited and unworthy. The maximum you can do is export all of your previous Oura data from there in CSV or JSON formats.

Wrap Up
Oura ring is definitely a high-maintenance gadget. I personally would not have made an investment of around $300 just for a fancy ring that only has three prominent features. Also, I think there could have been more features in the ring without the membership, which would at least make it worth the price.
Canceling the subscription did require some initial research from my end. That’s exactly why I decided to draft it into a dedicated post to help anyone who needs a one-stop solution. I would love to know in the comments if my post was helpful and how your experience has been with the gadget.
