Apple and PS5 are two of the most popular brands in the market. Luckily, I have both. Sadly, I can’t connect them, and that’s not just for me but for everyone. I wish both of these brands were compatible with each other, but they are not. Well, not directly, but with a few tweaks, you can make it work.

If you have tried connecting your AirPods to your PS5 as well, then you will observe that you can see your AirPods, but you cannot connect your PS5 to them. This is because Sony prevents generic Bluetooth audio to prevent lag. But what if I say I have found a trick to connect your AirPods to your PS5? Excited? Well, give this hack a try.
How To Connect Your AirPods To Your PS5
- I use a Bluetooth adapter to connect my AirPods to the PS5.
- I start by plugging in the Bluetooth adapter to the PS5.
- Once it is plugged in, I put the earbuds in the AirPods case and open the lid near my PS5.
- Then, I press the setup button on the back of my AirPods. This brings the AirPods into pairing mode.
- Once the AirPods connect with the Bluetooth adapter, the light stops flashing and becomes steady.
- Now you can start using them and enjoy audio through your AirPods. However, the mic won’t work for voice chat on PS5.
Do All Bluetooth Adapters Connect AirPods With PS5
Not all Bluetooth adapters work with AirPods on PS5. You need one that supports Bluetooth audio transmitters (A2DP) and is compatible with gaming consoles.
You need to look for Bluetooth adapters that support PS5 audio output, since most standard PC adapters won’t pair properly or cause a lag in the audio.
Another important reminder is to go for certified USB devices. To keep it cheap, the thought of buying a local Bluetooth adapter comes to my mind. However, in the long run, they can be faulty and a total waste of time and money. As per my experience, I have noticed PS5 does not support usual Bluetooth adapters, and you need an adapter that is specifically designed for PS5.
Some of the Bluetooth adapters that I know will function properly without a doubt are from Skull & Co. and Avantree Leaf. You can also look for many other reliable options on Amazon and other e-commerce shopping websites. However, go through reviews and only buy legitimate, trusted devices for it.
If Not AirPods, What Can You Use?
Don’t be disappointed if you cannot connect your AirPods to your PS5. There are multiple gaming headsets and consoles that you can rely on. I am not a pro, so I am ok using my AirPods.
However, they do lag sometimes, so if you want a deeper experience, then it can be a disappointment. Lucky for you, I am not going to leave you hanging without giving proper suggestions. If you are serious about gaming with PS5, then you can rely on Sony headsets. They are a bit expensive, but you can avail yourself of some discounts on e-commerce sites.
You can also get your hands on the Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed Headset, which has up to 50-60 hours of battery life. AirPods, on the other hand, only have 4-5 hours of battery life per charge, so it is not convenient for gamers at all. If you are looking for a budget-friendly yet efficient headset, then you can choose either the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 or the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1 or 3. Both of these headphones have low latency, good microphone quality, and solid overall performance for their price range.
These are some of my recommendations; if you have more, feel free to drop them down. You can also experiment with other headsets; however, make sure that you go for a reliable one.
Final Thoughts
Try this and tell me how it works for you. When I bought my PS5, I was very excited about it, but knowing that I can’t use my AirPods with it made my heart break. However, I did not give up and tried out this method, which works 100%.
However, there can be lag and other inconveniences. In my case, the issues have been negligible, but the possibility is there. To keep it hassle-free, you can rely on a Sony headset, but if Apple AirPods are your only option, then this method is a good one to try.
