Choosing a smart ring as a woman often feels like you’re searching for a unicorn. You search for a device that actually understands your biology without treating your health like a side project. You often get an unisex device that looks pretty but lacks the depth in physiological data you actually crave.

I’ve spent the last several months comparing both the Circular Ring 2 vs Evie Ring on my finger. If you’re currently eyeing the Evie Ring, you’ve probably realized it’s one of the only rings that is actually built for women. But then you see the Circular Ring 2 and its promise of medical-grade heart rate and FDA-cleared AFib algorithm detection.
I’m here to tell you that these two rings aren’t really fighting for the same spot on your finger. They are built with completely different understandings, as one wants to be your wellness companion and the other wants to be your 24/7 medical assistant through its AI, Kira+.

Design Philosophy: Two Different Health Lenses

When I first put on the Evie Ring, I immediately noticed the Open Design. There’s a small gap in the ring band and it’s not just a design, there is a logic behind it. It is designed this way because if you’ve ever experienced swelling of the finger in the morning that makes your rings feel tight, you’ll understand what a brilliant idea this is.
Evie is femtech-first, which means its entire existence is built around women’s health, menstrual cycles, symptoms and the reality that our bodies change daily.
The Circular Ring 2, on the other hand, is what I call gender-neutral health signals. It doesn’t care about your aesthetic as much as it cares about your biometrics. It’s a closed titanium ring that is sleek as well as light. It detects AFib and monitors your SpO2 every two minutes.
Comfort and Daily Wear
The Evie Ring features a unique Open Design. As someone who deals with finger swelling, this is a game-changer. It’s about 8mm wide and 3mm thick, it weighs as much as a high-end accessory, yet its flex-design ensures it never digs into your skin, even on days when your hands feel a little swollen.
The Circular Ring 2 is incredibly lightweight, as little as 2 grams, depending on your size. This makes it barely noticeable while sleeping. However, its internal sensors are slightly more prominent than those of the Evie ring, which some people with very sensitive skin might notice. Its profile is also a bit thinner, at 2.55mm thick, making it feel less bulky when you close your hand.
The Circular Ring 2 is built for the always-on lifestyle with an IP68 rating that means it’s safe for swimming and showering up to 50 meters and is made of premium titanium.
Whereas the Evie is made of liquidmetal with a titanium PVD coating. While it’s scratch-resistant, it’s only water-resistant up to 1 meter as it has an IP57 rating.
Women’s Health Tracking Compared

Evie is the gold standard for body literacy. The app doesn’t just show you a calendar, it lets you log symptoms, mood and even vaginal discharge consistency. It then tries to connect the dots. For example, you might notice that your sleep quality drops three days before your period and Evie will give you a heads-up.
It is best for women navigating perimenopause, tracking fertility or anyone who wants to understand why their energy levels fluctuate throughout the month.
It uses skin temperature and heart rate to estimate ovulation windows without a monthly fee.
Circular Ring 2, on the other hand, takes a health signal approach. While it recently added women’s health tracking features such as ovulation and cycle logging, it’s not as user-friendly as Evie. Instead, you get ECG and FDA-cleared AFib detection. You can literally take a heart rhythm reading in 30 seconds by simply holding your finger against the ring.
It is best for women prioritizing cardiovascular health or who have a family history of heart disease and want medical-grade monitoring. It also tracks 140+ biometrics and offers Kira, which is an AI coach that analyzes your data deeply through the app.
Note: While Circular offers an ECG, it is not a replacement for a doctor’s diagnosis. Similarly, Evie’s medical-grade sensors are for wellness tracking, not medical intervention.
Data, Insights & App Experience

The Evie app feels like a friend. It uses inclusive language and focuses on Daily Summaries. You won’t find that aggressive burn more calories message here. However, I did find the data analysis a bit light at times. Sometimes I wanted more “why” and less “here is a graph of your data”.

The Circular app is a metric-heavy app. It uses an AI assistant named Kira. The app provides scores for everything like immune system, stress, energy and recovery. It uses a direct tone and is perfect for you if you love spreadsheets and want to know exactly how many seconds of REM sleep you got.
However, it can feel more like a technical dashboard than a wellness companion, which can be a bit overwhelming if you simply want to know how you’re feeling.
Price and Availability
Evie Ring is priced at $269 USD and it is available in 3 color options that are Silver, Gold and Rose Gold. The Evie Ring is currently for purchase exclusively in the United States from the Evie Ring’s official website. The Evie app is also only available in the US via App Store and Google Play Store.
Whereas the Circular Ring 2 is priced at $349.00 USD and is available in 4 color options: Gold, Rose, Silver and Obsidian Black, which can be purchased from the Circular Ring official website.
Who should choose Circular Ring 2?
If you are someone who:
- Has a family history of irregular heartbeat or wants a portable ECG.
- Wants to track sleep apnea risks or blood oxygen saturation levels deeply.
- Loves looking at raw data and graphs.
- Enjoys a data-first approach and likes seeing 140+ markers that are analysed by AI.
Who Should Choose Evie Ring?
If you are someone who:
- Wants to understand how her menstrual cycle impacts her daily life. However, that doesn’t mean it is only for women, men can also wear the Evie Ring.
- Wants a ring that is literally designed for hands that have a tendency to swell up in the morning, with an open-gap design.
- Who prefer a supportive, non-judgemental app that doesn’t focus on weight loss or calories burning.
- Wants an app that speaks her language and validates her symptoms.
Final Verdict
If I had to pick just one between these two rings, as a woman, I’d go with Evie Ring.
Why? Because my primary health goal right now is understanding my cycle’s impact on my daily life. The open design is truly a lifesaver for my comfort and I find the daily summaries are far less stressful than the constant clinical alerts that come in the Circular Ring.
However, if I were 10 years older or had a family history of heart palpitations, I would switch to the Circular Ring 2. The ECG feature provides a peace of mind that Evie simply doesn’t offer.
If you want a ring that feels like a medical-grade device, go with the Circular ring. If you just want a comfortable ring that will track your menstrual cycle, sleep and heart rate, then you can go with the Evie ring.
