Am I team Ultrahuman Ring Pro or team Oura Ring 4?

I’ll be honest, wearing a smart ring makes me feel a bit like I’m carrying a piece of the future tech on my finger. For the past few months, my Oura Ring 4 has become my morning partner, telling me if I’m ready for a workout or if I should probably just stay in bed and watch some Netflix. But then, the Ultrahuman Ring Pro dropped.

Ultrahuman Ring Pro vs Oura Ring 4

The buzz around the Ultrahuman Ring Pro, especially with its new Jade AI and a no-subscription model that Ultrahuman is famous for, is hard to ignore. Since it’s recently been released and many of us are still waiting for the shipment to start to arrive, I decided to do a deep dive.

I’ve compared my experience with the Oura Ring 4 against everything we know about the powerhouse tech inside the new Ultrahuman Ring Pro. If you’re someone like me who just wants to know which piece of titanium is worth the investment, let’s get into the Ultrahuman Ring Pro vs Oura Ring 4.

Quick Verdict

If you want a ring that is tried, tested and feels like a luxury tech for your finger, the Oura Ring 4 is the king of recovery and sleep. It’s polished, the app is beautiful and it just works.

However, the Ultrahuman Ring Pro is the new tech that’s trying to disrupt everything. With its Jade AI, it promises real-time coaching that feels less like a graph and more like a personal trainer. Plus, that 15-day battery life is a massive flex compared to Oura’s one week.

Design & Comfort

When it comes to wearing a ring 24/7, comfort is everything. I’ve worn the Oura Ring 4 through showers, gym sessions and long nights and I often forget it’s there. It has a fully titanium interior now, which is much smoother than the old plastic bumps on the Oura Gen 3

It comes in six finishes and the Stealth Black is particularly sleek.

The Ultrahuman Ring Pro is also made of titanium, but it adds something very interesting called ProRelease Technology. Essentially, if your finger swells, maybe after a salty meal or a flight and the ring gets stuck, ProRelease provides a safer, engineered way for the ring to be cut off in an emergency.

Sensors & Tracking Accuracy

When we talk about accuracy, it’s important to remember that neither of these rings is meant to replace a doctor. If you want a medical diagnosis, you need to look for a medical professional. But for us girls who want to optimize our sleep and recovery, the sensor tech here is fascinating.

Since I’ve been wearing the Oura Ring 4, I’ve seen how its smart sensing works in the real world. Meanwhile, the Ultrahuman Ring Pro, which is just hitting the market, promises a massive leap in how it handles those same signals.

A big difference here is that while the Oura Ring 4 stores about 14 days of data, the Ultrahuman can store 250 days of data on the ring itself. This is huge if you’re traveling or just forget to sync your app, you won’t lose your stats.

Sleep Tracking

Oura comes with years of research which is backing its algorithms. The Ring 4 uses Smart Sensing technology, which dynamically chooses the best path to read your finger. It breaks your night into Deep, REM, Light and Awake. In my experience, it’s remarkably good at knowing exactly when I finally drifted off after a late-night Netflix session.

It’s often cited as being very close to a clinical sleep study (PSG) for a wearable.

Ultrahuman, on the other hand, not only tells you how you slept, but it also tells you why. It looks at sleep duration, RHR drop and restfulness. Much like the Oura Ring, Ultrahuman’s sleep heart rate sensing study also shows a very high overlap in sleep heart rate measurements compared with other wearables and medical-grade devices.

It also comes with Circadian Alignment, which means it tracks your sleep signal, which is a unique interpretation of when your body is naturally ready for bed based on your temperature and light exposure.

A major feature to note here is the Smart Alarm. The Ultrahuman app includes a smart alarm that can wake you up specifically during your lightest sleep phase, ensuring you don’t wake up feeling groggy.

Surprisingly, even with all its high-end tech, the Oura Ring 4 still lacks a smart alarm feature, meaning I’m stuck with my phone’s standard alarm that is blaring in my ears every morning!

Heart Rate Monitoring

Resting Heart Rate (RHR) & HRV

Both rings are excellent at night. My Oura Ring 4 gives me a beautiful graph showing my RHR dropping as the night goes on. If I have a late dinner, I can literally see the cliff in the data where my heart finally calmed down much later in the night.

Oura is widely considered more stable for Heart Rate Variability (HRV). Some users have found that Ultrahuman can be a bit inaccurate with HRV numbers, though the new Dual-Core Processor in the Ring Pro is designed specifically to clean up that signal noise.

Active Heart Rate

Oura Ring 4 comes with a Workout HR mode, but let’s be honest, smart rings aren’t great for high-intensity intervals (HIIT). If you’re gripping a barbell or a bike handle, the skin compresses, the sensor loses the light and it’s also more prone to scratches. Oura handles steady-state cardio like a morning jog fairly well.

Whereas Ultrahuman Ring Pro comes with a redesigned heart-rate sensing architecture feature. Because it has a faster processor, it can sample your pulse more often without killing the battery. It also uses on-chip machine learning to filter out the noise caused by your hand moving while you run.

Temperature & SpO2

Both rings track temperature deviation. They don’t give you a 98.6°F reading, they tell you if you are +1.2° or -0.5° from your baseline. This is great for spotting if you’re getting sick before you actually feel the sniffles.

Both rings track this at night to check for breathing disturbances. Oura’s Breathing Regularity is very simple to read, while Ultrahuman’s Jade AI will actually flag specific trends, like “you’ve had three nights of low oxygen, check your room’s air quality”.

AI & App Experience

This is where the real battle happens.

The Pro in Ultrahuman Ring Pro really stands for Jade AI. Think of Jade as a coach living in your phone. Instead of just showing you a graph, Jade might send a notification saying: “Hey, your body temperature is slightly up and your movement is low, you might be getting sick. Take it easy today.” It’s proactive and uses your data to predict the future.

Oura App Homepage; Oura Gen4 vs. Gen3 | Oura Gets a Makeover

The Oura app is beautiful. It’s simple, clean and gives you three main scores: Readiness, Sleep and Activity. It also has Oura Advisor, an AI chatbot that helps you understand your trends. It feels more like a wellness diary, while Ultrahuman feels more like a performance dashboard.

PowerPlugs

Ultrahuman Ring Air PowerPlugs; Circular Ring 2 vs Ultrahuman Ring Air

Like Ultrahuman Ring AIR, the Pro Model also includes a dedicated Respiratory Health PowerPlug that analyzes snoring and breathing disruptions more deeply than the standard Oura metrics.

Powerplugs on Ultrahuman also provide the users with the flexibility to pay for the extra features such as Cardio Adaptability and Ultrasync for Tesla, amongst others. You only pay for what you need, the core features are all free of cost, unlike Oura wherein without a subscription, only three basic scores are displayed and nothing else!

Battery Life & Charging

This is where the Ultrahuman Ring Pro absolutely dunks on the competition.

  • Ultrahuman Ring Pro: Up to 15 days. That is unheard of in the smart ring world. It even has a Turbo Mode (12 days) and a Chill Mode (15 days).
  • Oura Ring 4: You get about 5 to 8 days. It’s not bad, but you’ll be looking for that charger at least once a week.

The Ultrahuman comes with a Pro Charging Case, which is included in the box, similar to the Oura Ring 4 Charging Case, which you have to purchase separately.

The Ring Pro charging case holds its charge for 45 days, and has a speaker so you can find it if you lose it by using Find My Case. The Ring Pro can also store up to 250 days of data.

Price and Availability

Oura Ring 4 is priced at $349 USD, but for this, you have to pay $5.99/month for the subscription to see your detailed data. The Oura ring 4 can be purchased from the Oura official website, Amazon and even from Best Buy.

Whereas, Ultrahuman Ring Pro is priced at $479 and it is available for pre-order and shipping of the units is expected to begin on 30th April, 2026, from Ultrahuman’s official website. It is now available in the US, following the Oura-Ultrahuman Lawsuit, which had previously proposed a ban on the Ring AIR.

Who Should Choose Ultrahuman Ring Pro

You should definitely lean towards the Ultrahuman Ring Pro if:

  • You hate subscriptions: You’d rather pay once and never see another monthly bill.
  • You want a coach, not just a tracker: Jade AI promises to be much more interactive.
  • You travel a lot: That 15-day battery life and charging case are game-changers for road trips or long flights.
  • You like being an early adopter: You want the newest, shiniest tech on the market.

Who Should Choose Oura Ring 4

Stick with the Oura Ring 4 if:

  • You want Reliability: Oura has been doing this for years. Their algorithms are incredibly refined.
  • You value the community: A lot of health influencers or athlete uses Oura, so it’s easy to compare notes.
  • You want a slim, jewelery-like look: It’s arguably the most natural-looking smart ring available.
  • You need it today: You can walk into many stores and buy one right now because it is widely available.

Avoid Ultrahuman Ring Pro If:

  • You’re a minimalist: If you don’t want AI chatting with you or giving you constant feedback, the Pro might feel like too much info.
  • You need third-party apps: Since it’s newer, it might not sync as perfectly with every niche fitness app you use.

Avoid Oura Ring 4 If:

  • You are on a budget: That monthly subscription adds up and it feels a bit annoying to pay for permission to see your own heart rate.
  • You are a heavy quantified self nerd: Oura is great at summary, but some find its real-time data a bit lacking compared to what Ultrahuman is promising.

Technical Trade-Offs to Understand

When choosing between Ultrahuman Ring Pro vs Oura Ring 4, you have to trade simplicity for power.

The Oura Ring 4 has a lower sampling rate during the day to save battery, meaning it checks your heart rate every few minutes rather than every second. The Ultrahuman Ring Pro claims to use more frequent sampling thanks to its bigger battery and more efficient Jade processor.

However, more data isn’t always better. Sometimes, too many notifications can lead to data fatigue, where you just stop caring because the app is telling you too many things at once. Oura is very good at filtering the noise.

We have to wait and see if Ultrahuman’s AI is actually helpful or just noisy.

Final Verdict

After living with the Oura Ring 4 and studying the Ultrahuman Ring Pro, I have to make a choice. If I were going to buy one right now, even though I’m currently wearing an Oura, I would actually go with the Ultrahuman Ring Pro.

Why? It comes down to two simple things: battery and bills. The idea of not having to pay a monthly subscription just to see my own heart rate data is huge for me. Plus, the 15-day battery life means I can actually wear it through long camping trips or busy work weeks without the low battery stress.

The Jade AI feels like a more active partner in my health, whereas Oura feels like a historian looking at my past.

The Oura Ring 4 is a fantastic, beautiful device and if you care most about set it and forget it sleep tracking, you won’t be disappointed. But for someone who wants the latest tech, no monthly fees and a battery that lasts forever, the Ultrahuman Ring Pro is the future of the smart ring market.
