Evie Rings are good wearables to monitor your health. Its personalized insights helped me to understand my physical fitness and mental well-being. Though the Evie Smart Ring is more inclined to Women’s Health, it caters to male consumers as well.
According to the official website, the Evie Ring tracks heart rate (both heart rate at rest and heart rate variability), blood oxygenation (SpO2), respiration rate, steps, active minutes, skin temperature variation average, calories, sleep duration, sleep stages, mood, menstrual symptoms, and menstrual cycle.
It helped me to make personalized goals by using the wellness trend data. And guess what? I am actively monitoring my health with Evie. Let me share my experience with Evie Ring with you to get a better understanding.
What Does Evie Ring Measure?
Though there are numerous fitness trackers out there, Evie stands apart from the rest. Its sophisticated technology and exceptional accuracy are redefining health and fitness tracking.
Moreover, the fitness gadget tracks gender-specific data accurately. Yes, you read it right! I can keep track of my menstrual cycle, ovulation, and menstrual symptoms apart from the rest of my health metrics.
The Evie app has different tabs where I can access standard health data. I watch my activity and recovery in the Daily Summary pie chart under the Today Tab. It shows data on active minutes, steps, calories burned, sleep, and mindfulness.
I can also set specific goals, activities, workout sessions, etc, in the Goals tab to get my health insights. Now, let’s explore what does Evie Ring track.
Heart Rate
Evie Ring tracks heart rate by measuring pulse rate in beats per minute in real time. It displays the heart rate graph in the app. It calculates the HR in three ways-
- During Day/Night- When I am awake, it calculates my HR every 5 minutes. Similarly, it calculates HR during my sleep after every 5 minutes.
- Workout Mode- When I log a workout session, it measures my HR every minute.
- Spot Check Mode- I use the Spot Check feature to check my real-time heart rate, as it measures HR every 40 seconds.
The Evie Ring keeps tracking HR continuously throughout the day passively and samples the information to provide me with the average Resting Heart Rate or RHR data in the morning. The smart ring samples the wearer’s heart rate at regular intervals while he/she is sleeping and provides the average RHR when the person awakes.
The healthy heart rate range for women is 78-82 BPM & healthy heart rate range for men is 70-72 BPM. Mine ranges between 80-82 BPM. Evie can differentiate HR between genders, and I find it really interesting. Thanks to Evie, now women can have health data according to their bodies.
SpO2
Blood oxygen level, or SpO2, is another important health metric that is tracked by Evie Ring. I can check the graphical representation of my body’s blood oxygenation level in the app.
You can also check SpO2 with the Spot Check feature. It measures the amount of oxygen in the blood for 40 seconds in real time to define health conditions.
SpO2 ranging from 95% to 100% saturation is regarded as good health. SpO2 below 90% means that the person is suffering from hypoxia and poor lungs. Thus, Evie Ring helps me to identify heart & lung health accurately.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
Evie Ring tracks Heart Rate Variability or HRV by calculating variations in my heart rate. Evie measures the amount of time between heartbeats and suggests the recovery time. If the app shows a higher HRV value, it means that the heart recovers fast after intense activities.
The ring detects HRV value accurately and combines the data with heart rate to give you a holistic picture of your heart health. Thus, you can get the correct information about your body’s stress and recovery duration.
Respiration Rate (RR)
Women have higher baseline respiratory rates, smaller ribcages, and even smaller airways than men. Since males and females have different baseline respiratory rates, the RR values of men and women are different. Evie Ring almost accurately measures the RR between the two genders.
Evie Ring checks breathing rate and lung health by analyzing the breathing quality at every minute. It measures RR throughout the night. Thus, Evie Rings keeps a check on these important metrics and keeps me updated.
Skin Temperature Variation
Evie Rings can detect skin temperature correctly and add this invaluable information to other health metrics like Sleep, Menstrual Cycle, etc., to provide a wholesome picture. It gives the previous night’s average skin temperature variation data.
This information is helpful in knowing more about general health and circulation. I can use skin temperature variation data to know about my menstrual cycle.
However, I am waiting for Evie to add this metric to track ovulation days as well. The Evie team is working on it and might release this feature in the upcoming versions.
Activity Tracking Active Minutes
Evie Ring keeps track of activities and active minutes by checking my heart rate frequency and calculating caloric burn. When I manually log in for a workout, it calculates increased heart rate during heart-rate-boosting sweat sessions and mentions them in the Evie Ring health chart.
It indicates daily and long-term health with specific data on different activities. For example, if I am simply walking, it will calculate steps. However, if I am walking for half an hour as a workout, I have to manually add it. It will generate data accordingly.
Steps
Evie Ring tracks steps throughout the day. It uses its 3D accelerometer to track my steps and active minutes, including heart rate & calories burned on a daily basis.
According to studies, people who walk 4,400 steps a day have lower mortality rates than people who walk only 2700 steps daily. It should be increased gradually to 7500 steps/day for a longer lifespan.
Since Evie keeps track of my steps, I use Evie Ring to achieve the target and meanwhile keep increasing my steps on a daily basis. I am hopeful I will also complete my fitness targets super soon.
Distance Traveled
Just like step calculation, Evie Ring also tracks how much distance I have covered during workouts/training throughout the day. It measures the traveled distance based on how many steps I have taken.
However, I need to manually log in to workouts and exercises like running, walking, cycling etc, first. Thus, fitness enthusiasts like me can calculate the distance traveled and add this information to their other workout achievements.
Calories
The Evie app tracks daily calories burned and gives weekly reports. It also shows active and inactive calories. I keep checking the total calories burned for the day and the average for the week.
However, there is no option to manually punch in the daily calorie intake number. So, I only have to rely on the ring’s calculation. Currently, it independently tracks calories and doesn’t integrate with other calorie-tracking apps. It records my meal intake and calculates calorie consumption.
However, I am waiting for the integration of the Evie app with other fitness apps to get a better understanding. Its competitors, like Oura and Amazfit, are integrated with several fitness apps. Thus, adding this feature would help Evie Ring users get comprehensive data in one place.
Sleep Duration
Evie Ring smartly tracks the duration of sleep and processes the information to give an overall health report. It is an effective sleep-tracking wearable to know sleeping patterns, respiration rate during sleep, and total sleeping time.
It integrates other health metric information with sleep duration to give a comprehensive insight. However, users have complained about the inaccuracy of the Evie Ring for syncing sleep data and the inability to edit sleep logs manually, but I have not faced any problems so far.
Sleep Zones (Including Deep, Light, REM, Awake)
Evie Ring can track sleep stages and provide detailed insights into Deep Sleep, Light Sleep, REM, and Awake timings. However, several users have complained that it has failed to track their sleep properly.
As of now, I have not noticed many errors. Still, I believe that it needs to improvise itself. It monitors sleep and divides the sleeping duration into different zones according to my sleeping pattern. Thus, it helps the user to identify his/her sleeping patterns.
Ovulation, Menstrual Symptom & Menstrual Cycle
Evie Ring is specifically designed for women. Thus, it tracks the majority of health-related things to women. In Evie Ring, I have to log my periods. Then, it estimates the fertility window, ovulation date, and period in a calendar format using the first date of my last period and the period cycle length.
You can use the skin temperature and basal body temperature (BBT) data to predict your ovulation days. Evie is currently working on the ovulation estimation data, which will soon be functional.
It helps me to find different exercise strategies throughout my menstrual cycle to balance my hormones. I can manually edit or log your cycle dates and cycle length. It tracks the menstrual symptoms accordingly and helps me find estimated menstrual dates.
Lastly, it also tracks my health throughout the menstrual cycle by monitoring all health parameters and gives an ample amount of information related to fitness.
Mood And Energy
Evie Ring also tracks my mood and energy levels throughout the day. It is an important parameter to determine my overall health. I log my mood and energy levels on a daily basis.
Evie Ring tracks the information and examines other health parameters that impact my mood and energy. This metric helps me to identify the pattern that boosts my energy. You can use the mood & energy information to set goals to elevate your energy levels.
Stress
Evie Ring tracks stress levels by analyzing my heart rate, body temperature, RR, HRV, and mood patterns. It examines my physiology and provides detailed information. I have to further analyse these metrics to know my stress levels.
For example, a lower HRV indicates that I might be stressed. Similarly, high breathing problem is also related to stress. Though it is easy to find out the physiological stress of the body using the ring, it would be interesting to see whether Evie Ring can identify psychological stress or not in its upcoming versions.
How Much Is Evie Ring Accurate?
In terms of accuracy, Evie Ring is a reliable wearable device that helps me monitor health, fitness, sleep, menstrual cycle, etc., almost correctly. Though the Evie Ring got positive reviews, a few users have complained about the inaccuracy of the ring while tracking sleeping data. However, I expect that Evie will address these issues and resolve the problem ASAP.
Evie Ring has three sensor bumps to track pulses that examine different health parameters. The user must wear the ring properly to get accurate data. A comfortable fit will read the pulses correctly. Otherwise, the data can have inaccuracies.
The SpO2 reading has only an approximate 2.3% margin of error compared to the FDA’s approved 3.5% error margin. The Heart Rate error margin is only one beat/minute, which is better than FDA-approved accuracy, i.e., 2 BPM. Evie has already filed for FDA clearance to become a medical gadget. So, it can be assumed that it is taking its metric’s accuracy seriously.
Evie Ring follows FDA standards for design and testing. It ensures that the users get correct information and insights for the overall benefit. However, it is still behind the Oura Ring and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in terms of accuracy. I believe that Evie will work on this front to give tough competition to other wearable devices.

Wrap Up
Evie Ring is trying to brand itself as a perfect smart ring for women users, I feel that there are still so many things left to be tracked by the ring. Though the ring has women-centric features, it doesn’t mean that men can’t use it. It’s just women have additional benefits! However, Oura has similar features. So, Evie needs to surpass them.
I am looking forward to having more women-related metrics like hormone fluctuation detection, pregnancy detection, etc., that could help female consumers even better. As of now, Evie is in the initial phase and requires refinement.
In my opinion, the smart ring is overall great and tracks important health metrics to give complete health data. Users can use these insights to personalize their health goals and live a healthy life.
However, it would be a rush to declare Evie the best smart ring, given it’s a new contender in the market. So, I would like to know more about it from other users before giving it a green signal!
