The 5 Best Smart Rings for Sleep Tracking in 2026

When a celebrity credits their glowing skin to chugging water and getting 8 hours of sleep, it might raise a few eyebrows, but there’s some truth to it. While I have aced the water intake (for now), sleep is where I need a little extra assistance. Lucky for me, we live in the era of the smart ring!

Apart from being an all-rounder (quite literally) in the health and wellness department, smart rings pull a special focus on sleep and recovery. If you, too, are looking to better your sleep schedule and quality, look no further. Being a bit of a gadget geek myself, I have curated a list of the best smart rings for sleep tracking in the market to help you make your decision easier.

It should be noted, however, that smart ring estimations of sleep are based on the following factors: movement, heart rate (HR), HRV, temperature and blood oxygen saturation. While such technology may be useful in terms of tracking trends over time, it should be emphasized that such estimations are not equivalent to a sleep study.

What Makes a Smart Ring Good for Sleep Tracking?

There is much more to the best sleep-tracking rings besides a daily Sleep Score. First of all, I consider:

  • The ability to identify sleep onset and wake-up time accurately
  • The estimates for sleep stages– light, deep and REM sleep
  • Resting heart rate and HRV
  • Temperature and SpO2 readings
  • How well it translates all that data into actionable sleep and recovery metrics via an app
  • Comfort, as none of it matters if a tracker is uncomfortable to wear during the night
  • The battery life and consequently, the frequency of charging
  • Independent validation when available

Accuracy of sleep stage estimation and actual sleep duration are two different criteria. The ring could perform fairly well in sleep onset/wake-up detection without being perfect in distinguishing light, deep and REM sleep from one another on a par with polysomnography.

1. Oura Ring 5

Sleep Quality & Contributors on Oura App - Smart Rings To Fix Your Sleep

Sleep metrics that Oura tracks:

  • Sleep Score
  • Total Sleep
  • Time in Bed
  • Sleep Efficiency
  • Restfulness
  • Sleep Stages
  • Sleep Latency
  • Movement During Sleep
  • Nap Detection
  • Resting Heart Rate
  • Heart Rate Variability
  • SpO2
  • Breathing Regularity

I’ve tried several smart rings over the years, but the one that has stuck with me and helped me ride out the storm is the Oura Ring. This sleek, silver band has single-handedly helped me quit binge-watching Netflix and midnight snacking while being super comfortable to sleep in.

The latest Oura Ring is the Ring 5 and it replaces the old Ring 4 in terms of what I would recommend. The Oura Ring 5 is 40% smaller in size than Ring 4 and uses a new sensing system while still focusing heavily on the sleep aspect.

I wake up to an in-depth analysis with sleep stages, time it took for me to fall asleep, efficiency, and much more. Oura introduced sleep tracking in 2013 and its accuracy has been researched extensively, showing a range between 75.5% for light sleep and 90.6% for REM sleep. Oura ring was also deemed highly accurate, detecting sleep correctly 94.4% to 94.5% of the time, making it one of my top smart rings for sleep tracking. Even then, it has gotten itself into the middle of a lawsuit controversy over the accuracy of its sleep stages. Karma?

The data seems pretty accurate pertaining to the time I fell asleep and woke up; the stages are something no one can really judge the accuracy of. Overall, I got the hang of how much total sleep results in the most productive day for me personally. Pretty much the best sleep-tracking device I have tried so far.

In regard to Ring 5 specifically, the research should be used as evidence in favor of the sleep monitoring platform by Oura.

2. Ultrahuman Ring AIR

Sleep metrics that Ultrahuman AIR tracks, earning it the place on our list of smart ring for sleep tracking are:

  • Sleep Index
  • Timing
  • Sleep Stages
  • Sleep Efficiency
  • Time in Bed
  • Total Sleep
  • Temperature
  • Restfulness
  • Consistency
  • HR Drop
  • Restoration Time
  • Movement During Sleep
  • Resting Heart Rate
  • Sleep Debt
  • Morning Alertness
  • Tossing and Turning

Now, this almost feels like a dupe for Oura, but it isn’t necessarily cheaper, product-wise. The good part about the Ultrahuman is the ‘no subscription’ model. However, the recent additions of ‘PowerPlugs’ have a few features that are paid, such as AFib detection and Cardio Adaptability.

Coming to the sleep-tracking ability of the Ultrahuman AIR, why I have added it to my list of best smart rings for sleep tracking is because I like how each element in the app is accompanied by a clear explanation, with advice ranging from simple to genuinely helpful. It showcases sleep stages, skin temperature, HRV, sleep score, etc. The metrics are insightful, but the tracking is not always the best.

There have been a few inconsistencies in my sleep data, such as tracking naps at the time I was working. The total sleep was also a tad off at times, but overall, for a no-subscription model, Ultrahuman sure comes close to Oura.

The new Ring PRO, available in the US is still being rolled out in phases so I would hold my horses until I give you the same as a recommendation for sleep tracking.

3. RingConn Gen 3

The next in the list of best smart rings for sleep tracking is RingConn Gen 3. Sleep metrics RingConn tracks:

  • Sleep Score
  • Nap Detection
  • Sleep Stages
  • Total Time Asleep
  • Time in Bed
  • Efficiency
  • HR and HRV
  • Temperature
  • SpO2
  • Sleep Reports
  • Latency
  • Sleep Goal Gap
  • Sleep Time Ratio
  • Time Awake Ratio
  • Sleep Stability
  • Movement During Sleep
  • Sleep Apnea Pattern Insights

The RingConn has pros and cons. Firstly, it’s comfortable and sleek to wear to bed comfortably. However, the main distinction in 2026 is that RingConn Gen 3 is already replacing Gen 2 as the current flagship device.
In terms of recommending RingConn Gen 3 for sleep tracking, the device becomes easy to recommend if you are troubled by the subscription that Oura offers. The device does not have any subscription requirement and boasts up to 14 days of battery life. Therefore, it becomes easier to wear it during the night consistently as there will be no need to worry about charging it all the time.
Additionally, it should be noted that RingConn lists Sleep Apnea Pattern Insights as one of Gen 3’s sleep features. This is important since the feature offers insights into the pattern and not a diagnosis of the condition.

While it is definitely not inexpensive at $349, not having one more monthly fee helps offset the total cost down the road.
Since I last had direct experience with one of the earlier RingConn models, I would not make any assumptions regarding sleep score calculation or nap detection accuracy without retesting Gen 3.

Compatibility:  iOS and Android

Battery Life: Up to 14 Days

Price: $349

Subscription: No Subscription

Comfort: 8/10

My Sleep Tracking Rating: 7.5/10

4. Samsung Galaxy Ring

Samsung Galaxy Ring makes this list because it’s simply such an excellent addition to the existing capabilities of Samsung Health, especially if you are a current user of Galaxy devices.
Galaxy Ring records data about sleep duration and overnight health signals, which is then processed by Samsung Health into sleep statistics, Energy Score and wellness recommendations. The Galaxy Ring features include accelerometer, optical bio-signal sensor and skin-temperature sensor.
It also allows for sleep tracking if you wear Galaxy Ring together with a compatible Galaxy Watch. In this case, the watch is able to perform additional measurements and, according to Samsung, this improves battery life of the ring.
This is where Galaxy Ring really shines. Not the go-to option for every Android user, but if you are already a user of Samsung Health and Galaxy products, it makes perfect sense to have your sleep, activity and Energy Score integrated in one ecosystem.
Samsung states that Galaxy Ring can work for up to 7 days on a single charge. A combination of charged Galaxy Ring and charger will be enough for up to 14 days of usage without recharging the charger.

Compatibility: Compatibility with Galaxy smartphone and Samsung account
Battery Life: Up to 7 Days
Price: Currently starting from $299.99 in the US after trade-in

Right off the bat, the Amazfit Helio ring’s design is beautiful. Unlike the standard bands that are available, the ring has a dotted design all over, making it stand out and one of the best smart ring for sleep tracking.. As for sleep tracking, the Helio ring, like most sleep trackers in the market, provides a good, detailed sleep report every morning with sleep stages, duration, HRV, RHR and more.

Where this sleep tracker draws focus is the breathing quality, which it uses to detect signs of abnormal patterns and, therefore, detects sleep-related risk profiles. It also tracks if I woke up in the middle of the night and the duration for the same.

Additionally, I love the audio playlists for when I have a hard time falling asleep. All this with a free trial of the Zepp Aura app, offering deeper insights into my sleep cycle, powered by AI.

Another cool feature is I can see how my sleep quality compares to others who use the Helio ring. Like my REM sleep, one day was normal and longer than 52% of others. It was almost always correct in noting the total sleep time, barring a few days.

The biggest reason Helio stays on this list in 2026 is value. Amazfit currently sells it for $149.99 in the US, considerably less than Oura, RingConn, Ultrahuman or Samsung. Zepp Aura Premium is also now included free for Helio Ring users, so the old article’s $69.99-a-year subscription information is no longer current.

Compatibility: iOS 14 and higher, Android 7.0 and higher

Battery Life: Up to 4 Days

Price: $149.99

Subscription:No subscription required, Zepp Aura Premium is currently included free for Helio Ring users
