Zepp Pay in the US: Expected Launch Timeline + Compatible Amazfit Watches

Zepp Pay, the NFC-based contactless payment system built for the Amazfit smartwatches, may finally be coming to the United States. Until now, Zepp Pay has only been supported in 31 European countries.

Zepp Pay US Launch Timeline

Recently, though, a user on Reddit noticed a surprising change in the app after the update. The screenshot they uploaded shows the United States of America listed as one of the regions in the app, with just one banking partner making the list. Let’s get into it, but first…

What Is Zepp Pay?

Zepp Pay is Amazfit’s native payment solution that lets users make contactless payments directly from their smartwatch.

The NFC-based payment technology lets you store up to 8 bank cards. This is, however, only available to people in Europe with certain models of the Amazfit smartwatches, such as the Active 2 Premium, the Balance 2 and the T-Rex 3 Pro.

What About the New Update?

The update, version 9.14.2, that rolled out on November 6, 2025, displayed the United States of America as a selectable region under the Zepp Pay app. The Bancorp Bank National Association, being the only single payment partner listed, signals a new partnership in progress.

This update marks the first appearance of any US-based support inside the Zepp Pay ecosystem. Despite the new listing, people in the US still cannot currently access Zepp Pay and the buttons remain non-functional.

The listing may be new and signaling behind-the-scenes testing, but it is not yet functional. If all goes well, we might be able to see more banks and card issuers on the list in the upcoming app updates.

Has Zepp Pay Made It Official?

The news only started buzzing with the Reddit post catching eyeballs, but Zepp Health has made no press release, blog post or official social media comment about its plans to launch Zepp Pay in the US.

This may suggest that an internal testing or phased rollout is underway, or, the update may be a hidden configuration change, prepping the groundwork for future support.

Which Amazfit Watches Currently Support Zepp Pay in Europe

The Amazfit models that support Zepp Pay are:

  • Amazfit Balance
  • Amazfit Balance 2
  • Amazfit Active 2 Premium
  • Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro
  • Amazfit T-Rex 3
  • Amazfit Active 2 Square (NFC variants)

These supported models can register up to 8 cards in supported countries such as the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France and 26 other EU countries.

Will US-based Users Need a New Watch?

Amazfit uses region-based hardware variants:

  • Europe: NFC + Zepp Pay support
  • US/ Global: NFC-disabled hardware

Since none of the watches sold by Amazfit in the US support NFC, this means that even if Zepp Pay launches in the US, many customers still might not be able to use it with their existing devices and might have to buy the new watch.

Why the US Launch Is Complicated?

Although the update is a positive sign, the US launch for Zepp Pay is still a little complicated because of several major hurdles, such as:

  • Hardware variants- the Amazfit units shipped across the US come without NFC, which means software support isn’t enough and a whole new device might be required to exercise Zepp Pay in the US.
  • Regulatory approval- payment systems in the US require financial licensing, compliance checks and institutional partnerships. These formalities may take months or years.
  • Firmware and region locking- some features like payments are locked at the firmware level, depending on the device’s SKU, the region code or local certifications.

Wrap Up

Zepp Pay appears closer than ever to reaching American users. Although users in the US can’t activate it yet, the latest update is clear evidence of early backend testing.

We still don’t know when the launch will be officially rolled out. However, we are still faced with one of the biggest questions: if Zepp Pay goes live in the US, will Amazfit release a new line of NFC-enabled smartwatches and will existing users have to buy a new watch in order to access this sought-after feature?

Only time will tell.
