Back in the day, I used to think that all AirPods are similar; however, now that I have started using them, I see the subtle differences in each. Knowing which iPhone you have is easy, but when it comes to AirPods, it can be a little bit tricky.

Here, I have listed three ways to determine which AirPods you have. You can follow any of them.
3 Ways To Determine Which AirPods You Have
Look At Physical Features
Take a close look at the physical features of the AirPods. AirPods Pro come with silicone tips, while the regular AirPods come with plastic ear tips. Also, I have observed that the stem length of AirPods of different generations is different.
For example, the stems of AirPods 4 are shorter than those of AirPods 1 and 2. If you are new to the world of AirPods, then it might be difficult to guess them based on their physical features. But if you are experienced and have observed AirPods, then you can easily locate the differences by looking at them.
This not only goes for the AirPods but for the charging case too. The charging case of AirPods 3 and 4 is smaller than the previous ones. Also, the charging case of AirPods 4 does not come with a setup button.
Check the Model Number

- To do this, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
- Next, click on the ‘i’ button next to the AirPods and look at the model number. In this way, you can know the serial number as well, which is mentioned just below the model number.
If you are currently not on your iPhone but on your MacBook, then you can do it as well. Follow the same steps, and it will lead you to the model number.
Find the model number
An easy way to find out the model or serial number of your AirPods is by looking at the underside of the AirPods’ stem. You can also open the charging case and inside the lid is the model number printed for the same.
With this model number, you can easily figure out which AirPods you have. In case you have AirPods Pro Max, you will need to remove the left ear cushion, and below it, you will find the model number.
Once you have the AirPods serial number, you can put it in the Apple Device Coverage website. After entering the serial number, a page will be redirected showing you the name of your AirPods.
