A few days ago, I visited my gynecologist for my bi-annual appointment, and she asked me about my last cycle. Well, I rely on technology and not my memory to remember that piece of information. Given that I had logged in the details of my last cycle on my Evie Ring app, I wondered if I could share the details with her.
And well, I found out that I can NOT share my Evie Ring data with my doctor — not directly, at least. If I really want to do so, I have to rely on workarounds for the same. But it still made me wonder why Evie wouldn’t allow its users to share health-related data with doctors.
I went around and did some digging for answers and found them. And so, here I am to tell you everything about Evie Ring’s data-sharing equations.
Why Doesn’t Evie Allow Data Sharing?
Well, Evie hasn’t ever specifically stated a reason why it doesn’t allow users to export data from the app and share it with anyone, including healthcare providers. However, if speculations are to be believed, then I believe it could be because of privacy concerns.
But again, I think that this reason isn’t entirely plausible because Evie plans to introduce a feature called “My Health Report” to allow users to share their key data, like sleep patterns, heart rate variability, etc., with their healthcare provider. However, Evie hasn’t released a specific (or tentative timeline) for when it can happen.
So, maybe it could be because the Evie Ring was just released a few months ago and is yet to introduce a lot more features.
Workaround To Share Evie Ring Data
All the speculated reasons why Evie doesn’t allow data sharing are understandable. But I really wanted to share my Evie Ring data with my gynecologist. So, I relied on some workarounds to do that.
I opened the Evie App and showed her my health metrics. Apart from that, I took a few screenshots of my app data and emailed them to her for better understanding. Both of these workarounds did the job satisfactorily for me, and you can do it too.
Is Evie Ring Data Clinically Accepted?
The Evie Ring data is not clinically accepted yet. However, it is on the path of clinical acceptance. Here’s what all is happening:
- Surpassed FDA Standards: In clinical trials to test accuracy for blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), the Evie Ring achieved an approximate 2% margin of error, well below the FDA guidance of 3.5% for SpO2 measurements.
- Seeking FDA clearance for its pulse oximeter: The Evie Ring has also submitted its first application to seek 510 (k) clearance from the FDA. If this is achieved, the Evie Ring can be referred to as a medical device for its pulse oximeter (including SpO2 and heart rate data). This will be a crucial step in achieving clinical acceptance. Furthermore, the ring also managed to exceed the accuracy of two commercial, hospital-grade pulse oximeters.
According to me, Evie’s accuracy details look promising, but it has yet to achieve full FDA clearance.
Until then, I can still involve the data that my Evie Ring collects in conversations with my healthcare providers. But in my opinion, Evie Ring still can’t replace medical readings just yet.

Wrap Up
Given that Evie doesn’t allow direct data sharing yet, I will continue to share relevant screenshots from the Evie app as and when required. They are sure to make discussions during visits with my gynecologist more enriching. However, once the My Health Report feature is available, I am sure things will be easier, and I won’t have to rely on them.
But what are you going to do? Will you also be sharing screenshots from the app until then, or will you choose to wait a little longer for your Evie Ring to get FDA approval and the health report feature to be available?
