I have been using the Evie Ring for a while now. Its sleek design is impressive, and I really appreciate its women-centric features. But, when it comes to its battery, it didn’t quite meet my expectations.
The Evie Ring’s battery life, much like any other smart ring or smartphone, depends on several factors. Things like how often I use it, syncing, activity and sleep tracking all play a role. Here’s my unfiltered take based on my experience.
How Long Does Evie Ring Battery Last?
So, Evie claims you can go a solid four days on one charge with “normal use.” However, as someone who loves to use all the features, my experience was a bit different.
The first time I charged it up, it went from 100% to 11% in about 65 hours, which is more like 2.75 days. Over the next couple of weeks, I could push it to 3 days with another 5-10 hours, but never the full four days.
Evie isn’t fibbing about the battery life, but it really depends on how you use it. “Normal use” might mean something different for someone who’s a gym fanatic like me, tracking every little move, compared to someone who’s a bit more laid-back with their workouts.
For example, one of my colleagues has stretched a single charge to over six days because she never used the app or synced it during that time.
So, is four days “good enough”?
Well, for me, not quite. But the cool part about Evie Ring is it comes with a portable charger! Just like AirPods. This little case holds an extra ten charging cycles for your Evie ring!
When I first got mine, I charged both the case and the ring fully, and I was thrilled. That charging case kept my ring powered up for almost 30 days! Sure, the ring battery life itself wasn’t exactly what I’d hoped for solo, but the charging case made it super convenient.
Evie Ring Charging Routine: My Hacks (& Some Science!)
Evie Ring’s battery life can vary based on usage, but I’ve found a routine that works well for me, and I want to share it with you!
I’ve gotten into the habit of charging my Evie Ring every third night, usually 1-2 hours just before bed. I never want to miss out on important sleep stats, so I always ensure it’s charged and ready to wear through the night.
I recommend this for the best results: Don’t plug your ring in to charge right before you exercise or go to sleep. Instead, keep it in the charging case only when you’re relaxing, like watching TV, taking a shower, driving a car, chilling out, or hanging with family. This way, your ring has time to track all your important activity data throughout the day!
Evie claims it charges pretty quickly, going from 10% to 90% in less than 60 minutes, and that matches my experience. My Evie Ring usually takes around 65-70 minutes to go from 10% to 100%. Likewise, I charge my Evie Ring’s charger case every 30 days, and it also takes around 60 minutes to fully charge, give or take a few minutes.
Evie Ring Battery Saving Tips
I’ve been obsessed with getting the most out of this little tracker, and I’ve picked up some tricks to make the battery last longer between charges. Here are some simple tips that helped me save battery:
- Temperature Matters: My Evie Ring seems to perform better at moderate temperatures. I have noticed that the battery drains faster when it’s too hot or too cold, particularly when it’s above 50°C or below 0°C. So, I avoid exposing it to direct sunlight when I’m lounging by the pool, and I keep it tucked away on those super cold winter days.
- Be Gentle: Taking good care of my Evie Ring helps a lot. Dropping or hitting it can harm the inside parts and shorten the battery life as well as its performance in the long run.
- Low Battery Alert: Even though I charge it every third day, I also turned on low battery alerts in the Evie app. These alerts remind me to charge it so I don’t miss any tracking.
- Feature Focus: Features are handy, but some, like monitoring your heart rate non-stop, can use a lot of battery. If you’re not using them regularly, you can switch them off in the app to save power.
- Daily Charging: While I don’t personally follow this routine, Evie recommends charging the ring daily for 20 to 30 minutes to prevent the battery from completely draining. The reason behind this is that repeatedly letting a rechargeable battery fully deplete can shorten its overall lifespan.
Note: These are my personal ways of doing things, and how you charge your ring or follow safety tips may be different based on how much you move and use your Evie Ring. But I hope this helps you begin to find a routine that fits you!
Also, when I reached out to the Evie’s Support Center and asked them about the expiry of the Evie Ring and its charging case batteries, they confirmed that both batteries need to be charged at least once within one year of their manufacture date(s). This practice helps prevent expiration and ensures continued functionality.
