Hey, congratulate me! I finally completed my 15,000 steps today. Yes, I am totally motivated! You know how? Because I can now track my metrics, lay down my goals, and finally work out with friends. Sounds Perfect! Right? Trust me, it is!
From the day I synced my Oura Ring with Strava, my fitness journey has been amped up to a new level.
If you, too, want to bring out your inner fitness Workout warrior, pick up your Oura Ring and learn how to sync Oura Ring with Strava on iPhone and Android.
Oura Strava Integration: How Does it Work?
Initially, Oura Ring did not offer Strava in-app integration. However, In July 2022, Oura made an official announcement of forming a new Oura Ring integration with Strava available for all Gen2 and Gen3 Oura members.
With this, I can directly sync my Oura Ring with Strava and share my personalized Oura metrics with my friends. Through this, I was able to access a detailed recording of my activities map along with my performance data.
I could also examine the Strava feed, which contains various inspiring activities and adventures on interesting new routes. Moreover, Strava works with the Oura Ring GPS and tracks my mobile phone location to keep track of my activities.
How To Sync Oura Ring With Strava: iPhone & Android
To connect Oura and Strava data and get a summary of my daily Readiness and Activity Scores combined with Strava activities, here is how I synced my Oura Ring With Strava app-
- Open the Oura app> Home Tab.
- Tap on the Hamburger icon> Settings> Data Sharing.
- Select App Integrations.
- Tap “Strava” and then “Continue“.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to log in to Strava.
- Tap to Authorize.
- Select the data that you want to import or export.
Once synced, Strava activities were automatically displayed in the activity cards on my Oura app.
Data Metrics Shared Between Oura And Strava
After syncing my Oura with Strava, I could easily import or export certain data and scores between the apps. Here’s a detailed overview-
Data Imported From Strava To Oura
- Workouts & Activities (Recorded by Strava)
- Workouts synced from other Devices/ Apps (eg- Garmin Watch to Strava)
This workout data is visible in the Home and Activity tabs in the Oura app. Moreover, these import and export settings can be adjusted directly from the Oura app at any time.
Once my Oura and Strava accounts were connected and imports were enabled, Strava activities started automatically displaying as activity cards within the Oura app. Moreover, Strava activities were also counted in my activity goal and Activity Score in the Oura App.
Note:- Oura users do not need to worry about a single workout being recorded various times. I have observed if a single workout is recorded on multiple platforms, it will only appear once in the Oura App with the most reliable recorded data.
Data Exported From Oura To Strava
- Readiness Score
- Activity Score
- Workouts that are recorded with the Workout Heart Rate feature.
- Location Data
Once my Oura and Strava accounts were connected and import-export were enabled, activities captured using the Workout Heart Rate (WHR) recording feature were automatically synced to Strava.
However, I was not sure about the other two. So, I had a word with Oura’s support, and they clarified that Oura’s Readiness, Activity, and Sleep Scores are not automatically synced with Strava. Instead, these scores can be shared manually using Oura Stickers.
Note: After syncing my Oura with Strava, I observed-
- All workouts recorded in Oura either manually or automatically under Automatic Activity Detection can not be exported to Strava.
- GPS maps were not exported to Strava on Android devices. However, I have confirmed from the Oura help that this feature will be coming to Android devices soon.
After This Integration, You Can Share Oura Stickers on Strava Feed
After syncing my Oura with Strava, I could post my Readiness, Sleep, and Activity Scores to my Strava Activities feed by using Oura Stickers.
Oura Stickers is another creative way to build personalized Oura highlights and share them with your friends and family. Just like the integration, these stickers are available on iOS and Android for Gen2 and Gen3 users only.
How to Share Oura Stickers-
- Open Oura App.
- Tap the share icon in the upper right corner of the Home, Readiness, Activity, or Sleep tabs.
- Choose a background and graph or metric for your Oura Sticker.
- Select Post to Strava in the upper right corner of the Oura Sticker screen.
Oura Not Syncing With Strava? Here’s How to Fix
I love using Oura and remain updated with my health metrics and reports. But my happiness is usually short-lived. I often find myself shouting in frustration- Why didn’t my activity sync to Strava? Why is my Oura Ring not syncing Strava workouts? How do I manually sync Strava activity?
If you are also sailing in the same boat and wondering why, even after recording your activity on the iOS or Android Stava app, the activity does not appear on your Oura account, there are several things you can try that worked for me-
- Recording a new activity, saving, and uploading that activity to see if it pushes any missing or pending uploads to my account.
- Make sure that you have a stable Internet connection.
- Log out and log in again to the Strava app and then the Oura app.
- Turn your phone off and turn it back on again.
- Remove my Strava and Oura integration and reconnect Strava with the Oura app.
- Check for Unsynced Activities in my Strava feed. From there, select Unsync’d Activities and then tap the Sync button.
- Check for basic troubleshooting fixes from Oura’s help support.
If none of the hacks or fixes work for you, then I suggest you contact Oura’s Customer Service and solve your issue.
