As soon as I got my Evie Ring, I wanted to wear it everywhere I went— the sauna, shower, on a run, swimming, diving, and more. To me, not only was it a beautiful piece of jewelry meant to flaunt, but also a valuable health-tracking device.
But was it safe for the ring to be taken to all these places? I did some digging to find out the optimal working temperature and water resistance of my Evie Ring. I found out that the ring is not waterproof, but it is water-resistant.
Furthermore, the ring can’t function properly in all environments. It can only bear heat and water to a certain degree, and those degrees are discussed below.
Water Resistance Of The Evie Ring
As I just said, my Evie Ring is not waterproof. Instead, it is water resistant up to 1M. This means that I can wear it during my everyday chores, like doing the dishes or washing my hands, watering the plants, etc. My ring won’t mind a splash or two.
But there’s a limit to the amount of water I can bring it in contact with. Just like other wearables, my Evie Ring also comes with an IP (Ingress Protection) rating— a two-digit code that indicates the device’s resistance to dust and water. The first digit of the code is for dust, and the second one is for water.
This means a device that comes with an IP68 rating is completely safeguarded against dust and can bear submersion in deep water quite well, too. But the Evie Ring comes with an IP57 rating and its charger has a rating of IP22.
This means that although my ring is protected against light water splashes and even getting wet in light rain, it is able to withstand proper submersion.
Can You Wear Your Evie Ring While Swimming Or Showering?
I do wear my Evie Ring while showering and bathing. I used to think that the water pressure and direct exposure that comes with being in the shower could cause damage to my ring, but that is not the case.
Furthermore, I sometimes take my Evie Ring swimming with me as well. I know that the ring won’t count the strokes I make in the pool, but it’s still nice to have it to track the calories I burn.
However, I ensure that I am not keeping the ring on for long in the water. I am always out in half an hour or so. If I plan to stay in the pool for long, then I don’t wear the ring at all.
Furthermore, since the water resistance of the ring is only up to 1M (I am around 5 feet 2 inches), I don’t take the ring for underwater swimming, scuba diving, or anything that pushes these limitations.
Optimal Working Temperature Of The Evie Ring
Just like any other smart wearable, my Evie Ring can work only in certain temperature ranges. I found out that, as per the user guidelines mentioned on the official Evie website, the optimal working temperature range that I can keep my Evie ring is roughly around -20° to 35° C (-4° to 95° F).
Exposure of the ring to heat (38°C), approximately 100.4°F, or above, may result in overheating and even damage. In fact, one should avoid wearing their Evie Ring in extreme weather temperatures, i.e., below 0°C and above 50°C.
This implies that I can comfortably sport my Evie Ring on most summer days. But I still can’t expose it to direct sunlight for long durations as that will be detrimental to its performance.
Can You Wear Your Evie Ring In Sauna?
I really wanted to wear my Evie ring to the sauna and track the calories I burned while in there. However, saunas have an average temperature of around 65°C (150°F) or higher. Given the working temperature requirements and how my ring might not have been able to bear the heat, I decided against it.
While not being able to wear my Evie Ring in the sauna does make me sad, I have to keep it safe. So, whenever I am about to enter a sauna, I take off my ring. Furthermore, I make sure not to put it back on until my body has cooled down a bit. This helps me maintain the optimal temperature for the ring and not cause any undue fluctuations in my readings.

Wrap Up
There you have it, guys. I wanted to wear my Evie Ring wherever I went, but no, I had to be more realistic. So, although I can wear my Evie ring on sunny days, I can’t wear it under the bright sun for long periods of time. Neither can I take it for a dip in the pool.
As for my readings— I am not worried about that. There won’t be major differences in my readings if I were to take off my ring for an hour or two.
But what will you do? Will you still risk your Evie Ring in heat and water? Or will you choose to take it off? I hope it’s the latter! Anyway, if there’s any other place or condition you wish to know about, please let me know in the comments!
