Maybe it’s the weekend, and you want to sleep early or late, or maybe you want a daytime nap. Basically, you want to track a sleep not scheduled in your Apple Watch and don’t know how to do it. Luckily for you, I am here for you.

Up to watchOS 9, turning on Sleep Focus was pretty straightforward. Even now, in watchOS 11, it is very easy; it’s just hiding under a few options. Well, here’s how you turn it on.
3 Taps to Turn on Sleep Focus on Apple Watch
- Open the Control Center on your Apple Watch by pressing the side button.
- Scroll a bit to find the crescent moon icon, and click on it.
- Tap on Sleep, and that’s it.
You’ve turned on Sleep Focus on your Apple Watch.

Now, instead of the crescent moon icon in the Control Center, you’ll see a Teal blue bed icon.
To turn Sleep Focus off, just press on this icon, and you’re good to go.

Wrap Up
Wasn’t that too easy? You can also take control of your notifications during Sleep Focus. Let me know if you want to learn more about this. Also, if you want more details on sleep setup on iPhone and Apple Watch, read this.
I just noticed on Apple10 my wrist temperature stopped on Sept 1, it’s now October 22, I have it turned on. I’m not seeing anything except unpair and pair. Which I just did and see that takes 5 days. Is there anything else to look for that you may know just in case that doesn’t work? Thank you for your advice!
Hi, Teresa! Thanks for reaching out. If your wrist temperature stopped updating, unpairing and pairing again (as you did) is a good first step. After re-pairing, it can take about 5 nights of consistent wear for Apple Watch to recalibrate temperature tracking. In the meantime, make sure sleep tracking is turned on and you’re wearing the watch to bed and the Sleep Focus is active while sleeping.
If it still doesn’t resume after a week, try restarting both the watch and iPhone, or check for any watchOS updates. Hope this helps — let us know if it starts recording again!
