If you have tried everything under the sun and nothing works when your iPhone won’t connect to your AirPods, then I have proven strategies for you. A few months ago, when I faced a similar problem, I also wondered why my AirPods wouldn’t connect to my iPhone.

After rummaging through my iPhone settings day and night, I found some trusted methods to fix this problem.

How To Fix an iPhone If It Is No Longer Connected To AirPods#

Reset Your AirPods#

Whenever I am in a fix, I always rely on this option. No matter what problem you are facing with your AirPods, this always works. When my AirPods are not connecting with my iPhone, I reset my AirPods right away. I do this by holding the setup button on the back of my AirPods case.

Connect AirPods With Only One Device#

My AirPods are connected to my Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Hence, whenever I face difficulty connecting it with one device only, I try disconnecting it from all the other devices nearby. Since AirPods are connected to all the devices through Bluetooth, you can turn off Bluetooth on all the devices nearby.

Suppose your iPhone and Mac are in the same vicinity, and there is a glitch while connecting to the AirPods; this can lead to a disruption. Hence, turn off the Bluetooth of all the previously connected devices to be at peace.

Software Updates#

This may sound like a no-brainer, but software updates can also lead to connection issues. If you are unsure about how to check software updates, then go to Settings on your iPhone first. Then, click on the General option and select Software Updates.

If an update is available, install the same. I find software updates to be very important, or else the entire device starts lagging and glitching. After you have updated your device, you can try connecting your AirPods again, and surely it will work.

AirPods Are Not Charged#

If your AirPods are not charged, then this might also happen. Usually, AirPods do not connect when they are low on battery. If they are already connected, then you get to know if they are running out of juice.

However, when they are not connected and out of battery, then the connection is hard to secure. To check the battery status, you need to add the AirPods back to the charging case. Then bring it close to your device, and open the flap of the case. As soon as you do this, you will see a pop-up appear on your iPhone screen that shows the battery percentage of your device.

You can also install a widget on your iPhone to check the battery of your AirPods.

Check The Bluetooth#

When I am in crowded places, Bluetooth interference from various devices in my vicinity can lead to this issue.

Select AirPods As an Audio Device#

Primarily, if you have a new iPhone and you have not played around with its settings, then this can happen. Go to the settings of your iPhone, then select Control Center. There, I look for a music playback widget.

It will currently show iPhone. There, you need to click on your AirPods so that the audio output is now through your AirPods.

Restart Your iPhone#

Finally, one last tip that has helped me all the time is restarting my iPhone. I shut down my iPhone as normal and then turn it back on. This usually solves the connectivity issue with my AirPods.

Final Thoughts#

I am sure that by following these tactics, your AirPods will connect with your iPhone seamlessly. These tips and tricks have been my savior a number of times, and now they can be yours too. Other simple hacks, like cleaning your AirPods and your charging case, along with bringing them close to the device, can also work wonders.
