Getting an Apple Watch was one of the most intelligent decisions I made to make my everyday life easier. However, my messy self is unable to keep it scratch-free. This has become a significant issue because, although minor scratches are manageable, major scratches require extra attention and care.

When I researched the costs of fixing scratches on an Apple Watch, the prices ranged from $100 to $500. I was shell-shocked and too concerned about my budget, so here is how I fixed scratches on my Apple Watch.
Step-by-Step Guide On How To Fix Scratches On an Apple Watch
Step 1: Wipe The Watch
- I start by wiping the watch first, but it is mandatory to switch off the watch before wiping it.
- Then, I swipe the screen with a microfiber cloth. I like this particular fabric because it is gentle on the watch screen.
Step 2: Try Scratch Remover (Depending on the material of your watch)
- If my Apple Watch has Ion-X material, then I add a mild polish to the scratched area.
- Then, I rub it gently with a microfiber cloth in a straight or circular motion.
- Finally, I inspect if it is done correctly or not.
Step 3: Use A Screen Protector
- I believe it’s best to reduce the chances of risk by using a screen protector for your Apple Watch. A high-quality screen protector can prevent future damage and hide existing ones.
- You can also use an Apple Watch cover to protect the buttons and back of your watch.
Step 4: Connect With AppleCare
If the damage seems irreparable, then, my friend, you need to get professional help. Unfortunately, AppleCare+ does not cover these damages. If there are accidental damages, they can be repaired; however, scratches on the Apple Watch are not a concern. You can also opt for out-of-warranty repair, which is a full device replacement, but it can be quite expensive.
Final Thoughts
Hopefully, after reading this article, you will have a detailed idea of what to do if your Apple Watch has scratches. Most of the time, it is repairable and fixable on your own. But depending on the material and the cause of the scratches, it might also call for professional help.
Before you start fixing it, remember to identify the material first. Apple Watches are made of different materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc. Based on that, the method to fix it will definitely differ.
The best solution is to get a screen cover and an Apple Watch cover. This not only minimizes damage but also covers up existing scratches. That was all from my side.
