How I Change Activity Goals on My Oura Ring

There are times when you need to update your fitness goals. When I entered my height and weight into my Oura Ring app while signing up for it, it set a goal of 8,000 steps a day for me. But with my desk job, I felt I needed to aim higher, around 12K steps.

Because my journey with the Oura Ring started with changing my activity target, I will show you how you can do it, too.

Oura’s targets aren’t just about steps. While updating my goal, I found I could change my activity target to calories. This is perfect for me, especially in winter when I am at risk of frostbite. I can meet my calorie targets with indoor exercises like yoga, free training, free weight, and indoor cycling.

The Oura Ring offers two ways to modify your activity goal:

What Happens When You Change Your Activity Goal?

Adjusting your activity goal helps the Oura Ring to set daily targets that match your energy levels. When you change the activity goal on your Oura app, it really affects how you track and achieve your fitness milestones.

If you wake up with an Optimal Readiness Score, it might set a higher goal. On the lower readiness days, it adjusts to an easy target to help you recuperate effectively. These suggestions allow you to adapt your fitness levels.

Changing activity goals also keep you motivated by setting a realistic and stress-free target. It makes tracking more enjoyable and helps you maintain momentum, which is essential to staying focused and consistent in your fitness planning.

Wrap Up

Congrats, you have learned how to change the activity goals on your Oura Ring. Adjusting these goals has really helped me. My pretty sedentary job means I don’t have to move much, so I set a higher step goal to compensate for my limited physical activity during office hours.

I also love the idea of switching the Steps goal to the Calorie goal. On rainy days or in bad weather, I use it to keep my momentum going and do some yoga and indoor exercises at home.
