Why Are My AirPods Blinking Orange While Charging And They Won’t Stop?

AirPods are a magical device that likes to blink green, white, and amber. While most people are aware of what the other colors mean while charging, they are unaware of their AirPods blinking.

Why my AirPods are blinking orange

Back in the day, I used to be stressed out about the same situation, but now I know why it happens and how to fix it. Don’t worry, the reason is not something grave and does not require any amount of money to be fixed. Being cautious and following the steps exactly will help you recover your AirPods to their normal working.

Why Are My AirPods Blinking Orange While Charging

If your AirPods are blinking orange while charging, it means that the AirPods are not getting charged. When I saw it for the first time, I was scared and I did not know what had gone wrong.

I called my friend, who has been using AirPods for years, and he told me that this happens when your AirPods are not getting charged. In my case, it happened because the connection was weak. However, it can also happen due to dirty AirPods or a dirty AirPods charging case.

If your AirPods are very low on battery, they also need some time to get charged, and meanwhile, they keep blinking the orange light. To ensure the orange light changes to green quickly, I ensure there is proper electricity, as low voltage can also lead to charging issues.

Other Reasons Why Your AirPods Are Blinking Orange

Connectivity Issues

When I was still new to the Apple ecosystem, I once observed that the charging case flashes orange when there are connectivity issues. Suppose your AirPods case is unable to pair with any devices, then it will flash orange.

This means that the AirPods charging case can detect nearby Bluetooth devices to pair with. However, it is unable to connect to them. Why does this happen, you might wonder? It can also occur due to poor Bluetooth interference, excessive Bluetooth device usage, or issues with the AirPods’ Bluetooth connection itself.

Low Battery

If you have only seen green marks on your AirPods charging case, then you are lucky becuase I always see it blinking orange. While green marks suggest that your AirPods are fully charged or well charged, orange usually indicates a low charge.

When I have very low charge left, the AirPods also start blinking orange. Since I heavily rely on my AirPods, I am used to them being on low charge, but if you are seeing them flashing orange for the first time, plug them into a charger.

Issues WIth Charging Cable

If this situation persists for a long time, then it is mainly because there is a problem with the charging source. Either the charging cable is faulty, or there are low-voltage electricity issues.

You can face a similar situation if you use wall charging. Luckily, I have a MagSafe charger and wireless chargers, which made my life easy. However, the bottom line is to make sure you have a good charging source, or else the AirPods will keep blinking orange due to no battery.

How To Fix This Problem?

Method 1: Reset Your AirPods

  • To reset my AirPods, I press the setup button at the back of the charging case.
  • Then, you will see the orange light turning to white.
  • When this happens, I am guaranteed that the AirPods are reset, and now I need to pair them again.

Method 2: Forget The Device

  • To do this, I go to Settings on my iPhone.
  • Then I click on Bluetooth.
  • There I tap on my AirPods.
  • Next, I click on the ‘i’ button and then ‘Forget this device’.

Final Thoughts

The orange indication is usually related to a battery issue, and you can fix it by charging the battery ASAP. I have listed some tried and tested methods; however, if it doesn’t work, then you need to connect with AppleCare.
