Currently, I am wearing two fitness gadgets – RingConn Ring and Whoop 4.0 tracker to check my health and fitness levels. While RingConn Ring looks pretty cool on my hand and goes well with my daily look, I am quite impressed with the Whoop 4.0 tracker’s multiple wearing options.
After religiously testing both wearables, I found out that though Whoop 4.0 does have more features than the RingConn Ring, the latter is more comfortable to wear and tracks major features that are sufficient for me.
Moreover, I am not interested in wearing a faceless band on my wrist for a long time. Scroll along to know how I landed on my verdict.
Battery Life & Charging
I am a kind of lazy person when it comes to chores, even charging a gadget! I am embarrassed to admit how many times I have forgotten to switch on the power button. Anyway, let’s not talk about how forgetful I am.
RingConn has a smart charging case that can charge the ring 18 times. You see, why do I like it? Moreover, I don’t have to put extra effort into charging the ring. I simply put the ring in the case, and that’s it! Thus, the charging case not only charges the ring but also acts as my RingConn Ring’s accessory case. It’s a win-win for me.
Charging Details | RingConn Ring | Whoop 4.0 |
---|---|---|
Official Battery Life | 7 days | 5 days |
My Observed Battery Life | 5 days | 4 days |
Official Charging Time | 90 minutes | 2-2.5 hours |
My Observed Charging Time | 90-100 minutes | 2.5-3 Hours |
Well, Whoop 4.0 also has a smart charging feature. I have to use the Whoop Battery Pack whenever my tracker’s battery runs low. It doesn’t require any cable or case. I simply put the battery pack on my Whoop 4.0 and leave. It is a viable option for charging the gadget without the need to remove it.
However, it is difficult to use like that because there are chances of dropping it and damaging the battery. I have already damaged one and had to replace it, which cost me $49. So, I don’t find it that much smart!
Another thing that I don’t like about the Whoop 4.0 battery pack is that after using it, I have to charge it every time. This means that I have to worry about charging both the battery pack and the band more frequently than I do with the Evie Ring’s charging case.
So, Evie’s battery lasts longer and takes less time to charge than Whoop 4.0.
Design & Colors
Since both wearables are different, I can’t compare their designs directly, but I can tell you that both are quite attractive and trendy in design and looks. The RingConn Ring’s design is square oval from the inside as well as outside.
The Whoop 4.0 band has simple knitted band designs in eye-catching colors. It has a knuckle, hook, slider, and a customization option. Its sophisticated design makes the gadget easier to carry, even inside technical garments.
RingConn is available in three colors- Silver, Black, and Gold. I bought the golden one because it goes well with my other gold jewelry. Whoop 4.0 offers more color options in luxe bands. So, if you are tired of one color, you can replace it at any time. I have already bought 3 more colorful straps!
The straps begin at $30 and can go quite high. However, I have bought 3 more bands under $70-$80 only.
Comfort & Durability
I have a good-fit ring that wraps quite well, but I struggle to wear or remove it when my fingers are swollen. This is not a problem with the Whoop 4.0 band. I have noticed that wearing the band for long hours causes sweating marks around my wrist.
So, I keep switching the tracker from wrist to arm and vice versa. Sometimes, I get really frustrated with unending switching. So, I simply remove it and rely on my smart ring.

While the Whoop 4.0 band is quite durable, its clasp is of bad quality. I had to replace it twice. They are easily broken, and there is no way to protect them. However, I have a ring protector for my RingConn Ring that saves it from undesired scratches.

Whoop 4.0 tracker beats the RingConn Ring in terms of diverse sensors and sensor numbers. The sensors missing in the RingConn Ring, compared to Whoop 4.0, are photodiodes, gyroscope, and infrared LED sensors. Whoop 4.0, on the other hand, has all the sensors that are available in the RingConn Ring as well.
Accuracy
I continuously monitor how accurately these wearables track my physical movement, sleep, calories, etc., by looking at their readings.
Activity & Fitness Tracking
I found the readings of my HR a bit haphazard when I ran or walked faster on my RingConn app. Several times, it failed to track my elevated heart rate during workouts and showed me the wrong information.
When I compared it with the Apple Watch readings, I found quite a difference, considering the Apple Watch is far more accurate at data tracking. However, it tracks heart rate satisfactorily in normal situations. Since Whoop 4.0 does not have the step tracking feature, I have to rely on RingConn’s readings. Its real-time data tracking is quite up-to-date.
My initial experience with the Whoop 4.0 tracker was a bit rocky. It took almost a week to initialize and pick up the correct readings according to my baseline. RingConn didn’t have such an issue.
However, once it got synced properly, it tracked my cardio exercises and intense activities quite accurately. It does not track as many metrics as the RingConn Ring, but whatever it tracks, it has almost accurate readings.
Stress Tracking
Both RingConn & Whoop 4.0 track and analyze stress using similar HR metrics. Whenever I have a hectic day or bad sleep, I check my stress levels.
While Whoop 4.0 gives specific Stress Scores using real-time HR and HRV and suggests breathwork sessions, RingConn Ring tracks stress using HRV details throughout the day & night and provides detailed stress management analysis.
Though I haven’t noticed much difference in their readings, the RingConn Ring has given me satisfactory results.
Sleep Tracking
RingConn Ring is not great at tracking sleep. It cannot even differentiate between actual sleep and casually lying on the bed. Several times, it has tracked the hours when I am lying down and simply watching the TV and added them to my sleep.
So, I have to be cautious while tracking my sleeping hours throughout the day. Though it shows oversimplified graphs containing elaborated data on my sleep quality, sleep stages, and sleep duration, they are meaningless if they are inaccurate.
I liked the Whoop 4.0 sleep tracking more as it not only tracks whatever RingConn does but also gives me inputs on how much I should sleep to recover.
Whoop 4.0 covers a lot of sleep-related data, like sleep duration, extra-needed sleep duration, sleep stages, sleep interruptions, time to fall asleep, etc. Whenever I sleep more than an hour, its Sleep Auto-Detection feature detects it easily. So, in this respect, Whoop 4.0 does a better job.

Companion Apps
I find the RingConn app more user-friendly than the Whoop app. RingConn has more simplified tabs- Insight, Trends, and Me that give me all the necessary information on my activities, calories, sleep, and stress.
The graphical representation is easy to study and understand. Its Wellness Balance section offers a lot of valuable insights on how I can improve myself. It studies my health metrics and suggests recommendations accordingly.
In terms of data, Whoop 4.0 gives ample information about my sleep habits, stress levels, strain, recovery, calories, etc. However, I find its slides a bit overwhelming as they have tons of information with less clarity. Though I am impressed with its app’s blogs and podcasts, I would rather stick to the more user-friendly RingConn app.

Wellness Trends & Wellness Score |
I found RingConn’s Temperature Variation Trend quite helpful for detecting my menstrual cycle and fever beforehand. So, I think it is a really cool feature that I can rely on. No such feature was available in the Whoop 4.0 tracker, though.
One of the important features that I found missing in Whoop 4.0 is the step-tracking feature. Instead of counting steps, it tracks how much distance is traveled. Thankfully, RingConn does a good job of tracking both of them. Whoop should think about adding them in its upcoming versions to make itself a better fitness tracker.
The Next Version
While I am not totally against the Whoop 4.0 tracker, I would like to have a more refined one with more features like steps, health timeline, etc. As of now, the official Whoop website has not revealed the release date of its upcoming Whoop version, but I speculate that Whoop 5.0 will be launched, most probably in the first quarter of 2025, if not before.
RingConn has already launched its Gen 2 ring, and it will soon be available on the market in the upcoming weeks. The official RingConn website claims that the Gen 2 Ring is lighter in weight and has upgraded features like 100 m water resistance, longer battery life, and newly added features like Sleep Apnea Detection. So, I am looking forward to it and want to really try my hands on it!
Prices & Subscription
While I bought my RingConn Ring for $279 from the official website, it is also available at discounted rates on some occasions where you can save up to $20. I find the price a bit high compared to its competitors, and the ring is a new contender in the market.
However, after wearing it for the past few months, I don’t regret spending money on it. Thankfully, I don’t have to pay for a subscription. So, my only investment was in the ring and its protector.

Discounted Price | $259 | N/A |

There is no direct price for the Whoop 4.0 tracker. Instead, I had to buy the annual plan of Whoop membership for $239 to get the band. So, if I want to continue using it, I have to pay the subscription amount as well. That’s why I find the band more expensive than the RingConn Ring. I mean, what’s the point of spending so much for a simple-looking band?
Whoop 4.0 band also offers a few discount offers that will save you a few bucks. For example, you can use the free trial month or refer it to your friend. After signing up for my Whoop account, I shared a one-month free membership with my friend. When she signed up for a free trial using my link, I got an extra free trial for 30 days! Thus, you can also refer to your friend or relative and enjoy the perk.
If you are a student, you can get a 10% student discount. All you have to do is create a free account on Student Bean and fill in the details. Military personnel, Nurses, and First Responders, who are referred to as the Nation’s Heroes, also get a 10% discount.

Wrap Up
Though Whoop 4.0 can be worn on different body parts, it becomes highly frustrating to keep it changing on a daily basis. The Whoop app is further overwhelming and needs a lot of effort to understand.
Moreover, it looks like a simple band that doesn’t add much aesthetic to my outfits. So, I prefer wearing the RingConn Ring compared to it as it also gives the same information, in fact, more information than the Whoop 4.0 tracker.
